There was intense press interest in the Moffat Ravine Murders and the subsequent investigation and Trial of Buck Ruxton. The news medium of that period was newspapers which published an enormous amount of detail.

Police Scotland have a number of Press Cuttings, relating to the Ruxton Investigation and Trial, which were loaned to Moffat Museum for the Exhibition in 2023. These cuttings had been laminated, by the Police, when they were used for giving talks etc. Some of the press cuttings are incomplete and/or damaged but they provide interesting information and are included in this online Exhibition.

The Museum also holds on loan from Police Scotland, a wonderful bound book of original, contemporaneous press cuttings and a copy of a report made by Chief Constable William Black, reflecting on the Investigation. We will be making the contents of this available, as part of this online exhibition, in the coming months.
