Mary was born on 9th October 1915 to James & Jane Rogerson in Overton, near Lancaster. Her mother died when she was young and she was brought up by her father & step-mother, Jessie. One of 12 children, Mary worked as a Nursemaid in the Ruxton household at Dalton Square.
She was about 5ft tall with light brown hair and blue eyes. People remember her radiant smile and gentle personality. Mary visited her family, who had moved to Morecambe, every week.
Mary was murdered by Buck Ruxton – she was just 19 years old.
