Beneath the ruins of the mediaeval castle of Tinnis lie the remains of a much older hillfort. During two weeks in August 2022, from the 8th to 19th, a team of local volunteers and professional archaeologists will investigate whether Tinnis was indeed occupied during the Dark Ages, the time the legend was set. They will be looking for the archaeological roots of the Merlin legend long associated with this part of the Scottish Borders. Not trying to prove if the story was true but whether the legend itself originates here at Drumelzier in the heart of southern Scotland. Click image above to visit website.
